Rottweiler
Description: Historically used for herding and guarding live stocks, these Rottweilers have almost disappeared during the 1900 when efforts by German Rottweiler Club and others re-brought these dogs. These dogs are very courageous and calm looking and have a natural instinct to protect their owners and territory. They originated in the town of Rottweil in Germany. Their popularity grew during World War I and was recognized by the American Kennel Club around 1931. Rottweilers are one of the descendants of Roman Drover dogs.

Uses: Suitable as companion, guardian and general all-purpose dog

Height: Dogs 24 inches to 27 inches and Bitches 22 inches to 25 inches according to AKC
Appearance: Rustic, fearless and steady dog
Health Issues: A relatively healthy and low maintenance dog. Though might get hip dysplasia and Osteochondritis Dissecans. A good breeder should keep the hips and elbows of all breeding stock x-ray ed and verified by a recognised specialist, and will have paperwork to prove it.
